A Community Development District (CDD) is a special-purpose governmental component sanctioned by Chapter 190 of the Florida Statutes. CDD's are designed to serve the long-term specific needs of a community by planning, financing, constructing, operating, and maintaining community-wide infrastructure and services specifically for the benefit of its residents.
Nassau County currently has five Community Development Districts. The CDD Board adopts the budget each year in accordance with a process outlined in the Florida Statutes. The Board will first approve a proposed budget in the spring and will provide it to Nassau County at least 60 days before the budget hearing, at which time the Board will adopt the final budget and levy the resulting non-ad valorem assessments.
